What to do

A wandering charge gauge or an electric range that no longer matches reality is usually a measurement fault rather than a failing pack — the difference is worth thousands, so establish which before agreeing to anything. Do not accept a battery quote until the current sensors have been checked. The pack itself is not something to investigate at home.

What this code means

The circuit belonging to the pack's second current sensor is faulty. Sensor A and its own five codes are already written at P0ABF; what follows is why a second one exists, which is the more interesting question.

You cannot measure how full a battery is. There is no float, no dipstick and no direct reading — state of charge is not a quantity a pack exposes. What the module does instead is count: it measures current continuously and integrates it over time, adding everything that goes in and subtracting everything that comes out. That running total, corrected occasionally against voltage, is the state of charge the whole car depends on.

Which makes the current sensor an instrument rather than a monitor. A temperature sensor that fails costs you a temperature reading. A current sensor that fails corrupts a figure the module has been accumulating all day — and it corrupts it quietly, because a small persistent error simply adds up. A sensor reading a little high leaves the module believing the pack is fuller than it is, and nothing contradicts that belief until something forces a recalibration.

That is the argument for two sensors: a single sensor drifting is undetectable, and two sensors disagreeing is not. P0B13 is where that check reports, and it is the more valuable code of the pair.

The symptom is the part that surprises people, because it is never about current. It is a charge display that jumps, an electric range that collapses or overstates, a hybrid that stops using its battery, or a pack that appears to fill in minutes.
