P0C19: Drive Motor A Torque Delivered Performance

Read this alongside whatever else is stored rather than on its own — it reports that torque did not arrive, not why, and the reason is usually named by another code. If it is genuinely the only one, the motor or inverter is the honest answer. Expect electric drive to be cut rather than reduced; that abruptness is the safety design, not a second fault.

What this code means

Drive motor A is not delivering the torque it was asked for.

This is an outcome code, and it sits at the top of everything else in this block. The module commands a torque, then estimates what was actually produced from current and speed, and compares. A mismatch says the chain from request to wheel has broken down somewhere — it does not say where.

So its causes are mostly other codes, and the useful thing is to read this one last: a position-learning offset (P0C17) that places the field wrongly, a phase current sensor lying (P0BE5), thermal derating (P0C11), a supply the inverter cannot draw from (P0C0B), or a genuinely failing machine. Alone, with nothing else stored, it points at the motor or the inverter. In company, it is usually the consequence rather than the cause.

One reason the car responds firmly to it deserves stating. Torque monitoring on an electric drive exists for the same reason throttle monitoring exists on a petrol engine: unintended torque is the electric equivalent of unintended acceleration, and a machine that can deliver full torque instantly from rest has no natural forgiveness in it. So the usual response is to cut electric drive rather than derate gently, and that abruptness is deliberate.
