P0DFF: Battery Charger Coolant Control Valve Control Circuit High
What to do
Charging will be slow and get slower during a session. Have the charger's cooling circuit checked rather than the charger — a valve is inexpensive and a charger is not, and running a charger hot is what eventually kills it.
What this code means
The control circuit for the on-board charger's coolant valve is faulty.
This valve decides whether coolant flows through the charger, and it exists because the charger only needs cooling some of the time. Driving generates no heat in it at all — it does nothing until the car is plugged in. So routing coolant through it permanently would waste pump energy and, in cold weather, steal heat the rest of the thermal system wants.
The consequence of a fault is at P0D8F and P0D24: the charger overheats and derates, so charging slows and slows further the longer it runs. The owner-visible symptom is a car that starts a charge at full rate and tails off, which reads like a charge point problem and is not.
It closes a loop worth noticing. The corpus now carries the same shape three times in this block — a coolant valve at P0D1A, another at P0DE8 and this one — and in each case the valve is cheap, the thing it protects is not, and the failure presents as the protected component underperforming rather than as anything resembling a cooling fault.
