What to do

The car will probably feel normal, and may feel livelier — but the gearchanges are likely to have become harsher, and if they have, that is this fault rather than a separate transmission problem. What has actually been lost is the ability of the traction and stability systems to cut engine power quickly, which matters on a wet or loose surface even though it changes nothing on a dry one. Worth fixing on that basis, and the usual finding is a disconnected or corroded connector rather than anything costly.

What this code means

The torque management request circuit reads above its valid range — an open circuit, a disconnected connector, or a short to supply.

An open request line means the request can never arrive, and the striking thing about that is how little it feels like a fault. The engine makes full power on demand; nothing is held back. What has gone is an intervention that only exists for particular moments, so its absence shows up only in those moments:

  • Gearchanges become harsher, because the brief torque cut that let the clutches swap cleanly is missing. This is often the only thing the driver notices, and it reads as a transmission problem.
  • Traction and stability control lose their quickest tool. They can still brake individual wheels, but the fastest way to stop a wheel spinning is to stop driving it, and that route is gone.

So this is a code where nothing is obviously wrong and something real has been lost. It is the same shape as the accessory-position and inhibit codes elsewhere in this range: a function that is only needed occasionally has quietly stopped being available.
