U0114: Lost Communication With Four-Wheel Drive Clutch Control Module
What to do
The vehicle will drive as a two-wheel-drive car. On dry roads you will notice nothing at all.
The point to take away is that it will stay a two-wheel-drive car in the rain, on snow and on loose surfaces, and there is no warning at the moment you would want one — you would find out when the traction was needed. Drive accordingly until it is fixed, particularly in poor weather or on anything unsurfaced.
This module usually sits at the back axle underneath the car, where its connector takes water and road salt, so ask for that and the wiring to be checked before the module itself is considered.

The four-wheel-drive clutch control module has stopped being heard from. The general reasoning is at U0100.
This module operates the clutch that engages the second axle on an on-demand four-wheel-drive system — the arrangement where a vehicle drives one axle normally and brings the other in when slip is detected or load demands it. Unlike the transfer case at U0102, this is a continuously modulated clutch rather than a selector, so it is adjusting engagement constantly rather than holding a chosen mode.
Losing the conversation normally releases the clutch, leaving a two-wheel-drive vehicle. That is the safe default and it is unremarkable on dry tarmac. It is a genuine change in behaviour on a wet, snowy or loose surface, and it is one that gives no warning until traction is needed — which is a poor moment to discover it. Worth knowing rather than assuming the system is still there.
The module is normally mounted at the rear axle, underneath the vehicle, so water and road salt at its connector are the usual findings rather than a module fault.
