U0434: Invalid Data Received From Active Roll Control Module
What to do
The car drives normally but will lean noticeably more in corners than you are used to. On a tall vehicle that is a real change — take corners and roundabouts more gently until you have got used to it.
If you drive off-road or on very uneven ground, the loss works the other way. This system normally relaxes the anti-roll bars to let the wheels move independently, and without it a wheel will lift where it previously stayed on the ground — so expect less grip on rough terrain, not more.
If a stability control or steering angle warning is also on, that is probably the actual fault. This system runs on steering angle and cornering forces measured elsewhere, so a bad sensor upstream upsets it as a knock-on — and fixing that one thing clears both.
On hydraulic systems, ask for the fluid level and any leaks at the actuators to be checked; they sit low down in the road spray.

Active roll control keeps a vehicle flatter in corners by actively resisting body lean, using hydraulic or electrically actuated anti-roll bars that can be stiffened on demand and — importantly — relaxed when the vehicle is going straight or off-road, where a stiff anti-roll bar reduces wheel articulation and grip.
That dual purpose is why the system exists on tall vehicles in particular, and it is why losing it has two different consequences depending on what the vehicle is doing.
On the road, the system defaults to a passive state and the vehicle simply leans more in corners. That is a handling change rather than a hazard — but it is a noticeable one on a tall vehicle, and a driver used to a flat-cornering car should moderate accordingly.
Off-road or on very uneven ground, the loss is the other way round. A system that can no longer relax its anti-roll bars leaves them stiff, which reduces how far the wheels can move independently — so a wheel lifts where it would previously have stayed down. That costs traction exactly where it is wanted.
So the practical advice depends on use, and both halves are worth stating.
Following the family's rule, the inputs are the usual origin. The system needs steering angle, lateral acceleration and road speed — so a fault in the steering angle sensor at U0428 or the acceleration sensor at U0432 propagates directly here. This code alongside either of those is one fault, and the work belongs upstream.
Hydraulic versions add their own causes: fluid level, pump pressure and leaks at the actuators, which sit low on the suspension in the road spray.
