The car drives normally. What you will notice is phone connection, media playback or a USB or accessory socket not working.
Unplug everything and try again — this is free and it is often the answer. A cheap or damaged charger, adapter or dashcam can upset this module, and a fault that appeared soon after a new one was introduced is very often that. Take everything out of the sockets, and see whether the problem clears.
Look at the socket itself too. These ports get used daily, in the dark, with cables that get pulled when people get out of the car — so a wrenched or damaged socket is a common and quite visible cause.
And if it stopped working after your phone updated, that may be the whole story. These interfaces need software updates to keep working with new phones, and an out-of-date one is a software job rather than a new part. Worth asking about before anything is ordered.

This module is a translator. Its job is to let devices that speak a different language — a phone, a media player, a USB device, an aftermarket accessory, a diagnostic dongle — exchange information with a vehicle network that was never designed for them. It sits deliberately between the outside world and the vehicle's own systems, which is both its purpose and the reason it fails the way it does.
Being an interface to the outside world makes physical damage far likelier than for any module buried in the dashboard. Its ports are used daily, by passengers, in the dark, with cables that get yanked when somebody gets out. A USB or accessory socket wrenched sideways, a connector forced in the wrong way up, or a cheap charger drawing more than the port is designed for are ordinary findings rather than unusual ones.
The cheap charger point deserves emphasis because it is both common and preventable. A poorly made charger or adapter can put electrical noise onto the vehicle's supply or, worse, feed voltage back into a data line. A vehicle that developed this fault shortly after a new charger, dashcam or phone cradle was introduced is worth testing with all of it unplugged, and that test is free.
The other frequent explanation is not a fault at all. These modules are firmware-driven and are updated to keep pace with phones and protocols. An interface that stopped working after a phone's software update, or that never worked with a newer device, may simply be out of date — a software matter rather than a hardware one, and worth asking about before a module is bought.
Nothing here affects the vehicle's driving in any way.
