O que fazer
The car drives normally. The seat may not move when you press its switches — even though the seat itself is fine.
This code is about the switches rather than the seat motors, which matters because the switch pack is much the cheaper part. Worth asking specifically whether the switch pack has been tested before anybody quotes for a seat module.
Has anything been spilled on the switches, or are they kicked when people get in and out? They sit right where feet and bags go, and that is the usual story.
If the car's battery goes flat when it stands for a few days, mention it. A switch stuck reporting itself pressed keeps the car awake, and that is the expensive version of this fault.

Seat control switch module B is broadcasting data that cannot be accepted as true. See U0400 for what an invalid-data code is and why the module it names is usually the messenger rather than the culprit.
The letter narrows the fault to one instance of a repeated module, and that is genuinely useful — but it does not say which one physically. The mapping from letter to position is the manufacturer's choice and differs between makes, so only the vehicle's own documentation resolves it.
Two consequences. Several letters stored together means the fault is upstream of all of them — a shared supply, a shared earth, or the bus. Exactly one letter stored is the more informative case: the others are working, so everything they share is proven good.
This is the switch pack rather than the seat module — the cluster of controls on the side of the seat or the door card that a passenger actually touches — and the distinction is worth money.
A seat control module drives the motors and reports position; a seat control switch module reports what the occupant asked for. When the switch data is implausible, the seat may work perfectly from a diagnostic tool while doing nothing when the switch is pressed — which points at the switch pack, not the seat.
Switch packs on the outboard side of a seat live where feet, bags and door sills are, and they are kicked, scuffed and occasionally soaked. A stuck switch is the specific failure worth naming: a control reporting itself pressed when nobody is touching it is invalid data by definition, and it can keep the car awake and flatten the battery.
Everything at U0509 about the loom under the seat applies unchanged — the wiring reaches these switches across the same crushed, dragged, seat-rail-trapped space.
