Have this looked at by someone qualified on electric drive systems. The orange high-voltage cabling is not something to investigate yourself.
Expect the car to feel weaker rather than broken. With one motor's data untrusted, the car reduces or withdraws that motor — so you may lose acceleration, lose some regenerative braking, or find all-wheel drive has quietly become two-wheel drive. That is the car protecting itself.
Check the coolant level for the electronics cooling system if your handbook shows you how — it is usually separate from the engine coolant. Low coolant or air in that circuit produces exactly this kind of fault, and it is a great deal cheaper than a motor controller.
Mention any recent high-voltage work or deep water. Both are common triggers, and the first is often a software mismatch rather than a failure.

The letter narrows the fault to one instance of a repeated module, and that is genuinely useful — but it does not say which one physically. The mapping from letter to position is the manufacturer's choice and differs between makes, so only the vehicle's own documentation resolves it.
Two consequences. Several letters stored together means the fault is upstream of all of them — a shared supply, a shared earth, or the bus. Exactly one letter stored is the more informative case: the others are working, so everything they share is proven good.
A drive motor control module is the inverter and controller for one traction motor, and a vehicle with modules B, C or D has more than one motor — which is the useful fact here.
Multiple motors mean multiple axles or multiple wheels driven independently, and torque has to be coordinated between them precisely. A module publishing implausible torque, speed or temperature leaves the coordinating controller unable to balance the drive, and the safe response is to reduce or withdraw the affected motor's contribution.
Which produces a symptom drivers describe as the car feeling weaker rather than broken: reduced acceleration, less regenerative braking, or all-wheel drive quietly becoming front- or rear-only. On a performance vehicle the difference is obvious; on a large one it may not be.
Motor position and temperature sensing are the usual physical causes, and both live in a hot, vibrating assembly with high-voltage cabling running to it — so connector integrity at the motor end is where diagnosis starts.
Coolant is worth naming, since these inverters are liquid-cooled: low coolant or air in the electronics cooling circuit produces temperature readings that make no sense, and the corpus documents that failure directly in the P0Cxx range.
