Radio or infotainment screen not working
The screen in the centre of the dashboard is blank, frozen, restarting in a loop, or showing errors — and on most vehicles built in the last decade that is more than an entertainment problem. The same unit commonly carries the climate controls, the reversing camera, the parking sensor display and the vehicle settings menus, so it is worth checking what else has gone with it.
The commonest cause on an older vehicle is an aftermarket head unit fitted without the proper vehicle-specific interface, which also tends to stop the vehicle going to sleep and flatten the battery over a few days. On a newer one it is usually coding — an original unit from another car of the same model normally has to be programmed to the vehicle.
If the reversing camera has gone with it, use the mirrors and look over your shoulder rather than trusting a frozen image.

On most vehicles built in the last decade that is more than an entertainment problem. The same unit commonly carries the climate controls, the reversing camera, the parking sensor display and the vehicle settings menus, so it is worth checking what else has gone with it.
The commonest cause on an older vehicle is an aftermarket head unit fitted without the proper vehicle-specific interface, which also tends to stop the vehicle going to sleep and flatten the battery over a few days. A car with a replaced stereo and a battery that goes flat after a quiet week has one fault, not two.
