Vehicle
Ford Mustang
The pony car, and since 2015 a genuinely global Ford. Modified examples are the norm rather than the exception — provenance of parts is a diagnostic question here.
Generations
-
Fox 1979–1993
The Fox platform, shared with the Fairmont and the Thunderbird, and the generation that carried the Mustang through the years it nearly became a front-wheel-drive Mazda. Engines run from a four-cylinder to the 5.0 Windsor, and the automatic is the AOD — hydraulic, with no electronics in it at all.

SN-95 1993–2004
A new body on a heavily revised Fox floorpan, sold as Fox-4. The 5.0 Windsor gives way to the 4.6 Modular for 1996, the Cobra gets the four-valve version of it, and the automatic becomes electronic — the AODE, then the 4R70W.

Service information
Information, not instruction
CarGeek is a reference, not a service manual. Its pages are written from public sources and from what other people have found, never from a manufacturer's own service information, so they can be wrong or incomplete for your particular vehicle. Some of what they describe carries real risk: high voltage, fuel under pressure, stored energy, hot and moving parts.
Have anything you intend to act on checked by a trained person against the manufacturer's own procedure for your vehicle. Nothing here replaces that procedure.

Nothing posted about this yet. Whatever you found is worth writing down — even a dead end saves someone the same afternoon.
What makes one worth reading:
- The car — make, model, year and engine. The same fault behaves differently on each.
- What you measured, not only what you replaced.
- What actually fixed it — or that nothing did, which is worth knowing too.
