Toyota Innova
The MPV that carries much of South and Southeast Asia, built on the IMV ladder frame it shares with the Hilux and Fortuner — which is the most useful fact about it, because Hilux engine and driveline information applies almost throughout. The 2KD and 1KD common-rail diesels are the engines most examples have, and their recurring faults are the ones that family is known for: injector seat leakage announcing itself as a blow-by smell and a rough idle, and EGR and intake fouling heavy enough to set flow codes on a low-mileage engine. The 2016-on car moves to the 2GD-FTV with a variable-nozzle turbocharger, and the 2023 Zenix breaks the pattern by becoming a transverse front-drive hybrid on TNGA-C.
