P0460: Fuel Level Sensor A Circuit
What to do
Driveable. The fuel gauge may read incorrectly or erratically. Worth fixing before an emissions test even if the gauge does not bother you, because several self-tests will not run while the fuel level reading is untrusted.
What this code means
A circuit fault on the fuel level sensor. It is worth understanding why a fuel gauge sender appears among the emission control codes at all: several diagnostic monitors will not run outside a particular fuel level range, because a nearly empty or completely full tank changes how vapour behaves and makes an evaporative leak test meaningless. The module therefore treats fuel level as an emissions input, and a sender it cannot trust blocks those monitors from completing.
That is the practical consequence. A car with this code may pass every other test and still fail an inspection because its readiness monitors never ran — which reads as an unrelated failure unless you know the connection.
