P0530: Air Conditioning Refrigerant Pressure Sensor A Circuit
What to do
Driveable. The air conditioning will probably not work at all, and that is the system protecting the compressor rather than a second fault. If the system has been slow to cool for a while, mention it — a slow refrigerant leak is a common underlying cause.
What this code means
A circuit fault on the air conditioning refrigerant pressure sensor. The engine module reads this because air conditioning is a substantial load — it raises idle to compensate before the compressor engages, and cuts the compressor out if pressure goes dangerously high or uselessly low.
That protective role is why a sensor fault usually stops the air conditioning working entirely. The module will not engage a compressor whose pressure it cannot monitor, which is correct behaviour rather than an over-reaction: running a compressor with no refrigerant destroys it for want of lubrication.
