P0533: Air Conditioning Refrigerant Pressure Sensor A Circuit High
What to do
Driveable with no air conditioning. If cooling fan faults are stored as well, mention it — the fan and the air conditioning are often the same problem.
What this code means
The refrigerant pressure signal is above its plausible range. Usually an open ground or a signal wire on a supply voltage, but genuinely excessive pressure is possible and worth excluding: an overcharged system, a blocked condenser, or a cooling fan that is not running when the air conditioning is on all raise pressure sharply.
The fan connection is the one people miss. On many vehicles the same fan cools the condenser, so a fan fault presents as an air conditioning fault, and the two codes appear together.
