Expect reduced power. Ask for the wastegate linkage to be checked for free movement before the actuator or the module is replaced — a stiff gate produces this code, and a new actuator fitted to a seized gate fails the same way.

Ce que signifie ce code

The module's output driver for wastegate actuator B has exceeded its current or thermal limit.

A wastegate position sensor turns boost control from a guess into a measurement, and its arrival marks a real change in how turbochargers are managed.

A classic wastegate is a spring and a diaphragm. Boost pushes against a spring; when it wins, the gate opens and exhaust bypasses the turbine. Nothing measures anything — the system is self-regulating and approximate, and the engine module infers what happened from the boost that resulted.

An electric wastegate actuator with a position sensor closes that loop. The module commands a position, reads back what it got, and can therefore control boost precisely across the whole rev range rather than at one design point. That is what makes modern small-capacity turbo engines drivable — and it is why a position fault costs more than it sounds.

Losing the feedback does not lose boost control; it loses boost confidence. The module cannot verify the gate is where it asked, so it backs off to a conservative map: reduced power, and often a car that feels flat in the mid-range while pulling normally at low revs.

Two sensors mean a twin-turbo installation, so a fault on one is one turbo — which on a V-engine is felt as an odd imbalance rather than a straightforward loss of power.

This code is about the driver rather than the actuator, and the module is protecting itself from the load — the same reasoning as P0E1E and P2AA5.

On a wastegate the excessive load is nearly always mechanical, and nearly always heat and carbon. The actuator drives a shaft that passes into the exhaust stream, where deposits build and where repeated heat cycling seizes linkages. A motor straining against a stiff gate draws far more current than one moving freely, so the driver trips long before anything breaks.

Which makes this an early warning if it is read as one. A wastegate that is merely stiff can often be freed; one left until it seizes takes the actuator with it, and frequently the turbocharger.
