Que faire

Check your tyre pressures by hand with a gauge, and keep doing it regularly until this is fixed. The system watching them is not working, and an under-inflated tyre overheats, wears out quickly, handles badly and can fail at speed. That is the important part of this page.

Two very common explanations, both of which are ordinary rather than alarming.

How old is the car? These sensors sit inside the wheels and run on sealed batteries that last roughly five to ten years — and because they were all fitted together, they tend to die around the same time. A car of that age is usually reporting expiring sensors rather than a fault.

Have the tyres or wheels been changed or rotated recently? Each sensor is registered to a wheel position, and moving them without a relearn leaves the car reporting the wrong corner or unable to find a sensor. A tyre machine can also break one during fitting. If this appeared right after tyre work, that is very likely why.

Ce que signifie ce code

The tyre pressure monitor module is broadcasting data that cannot be accepted as true. See U0400 for the family's framing.

A tyre pressure system is unusual on this network in one respect that explains most of its faults: the sensors are not wired to anything. They sit inside the wheels, transmit by radio, and each one is a small sealed unit with a non-replaceable battery that lasts somewhere between five and ten years.

That produces a failure mode nothing else on the vehicle has: sensors that simply expire, usually several within a short period of each other, because they were all fitted at the same time. A vehicle of the right age reporting implausible tyre pressure data is very often reporting dying sensor batteries, and that is a genuine end-of-life matter rather than a fault to diagnose.

Two other causes are procedural rather than mechanical, and both follow tyre work.

Sensors not relearned. Each sensor has an identifier the vehicle must associate with a wheel position. Rotate the tyres, or fit different wheels, and the vehicle has stale associations — reporting a pressure for the wrong corner, or reporting a sensor it can no longer find. A relearn procedure fixes it, and it is part of the job rather than an extra.

Or sensors damaged during fitting. These sit on the valve stem inside the wheel, and a tyre machine can break one easily — which is why a fault dating from the last tyre change is very often that.

The safety point deserves stating because the system is easy to dismiss: an under-inflated tyre is a real hazard — it overheats, wears out, handles badly and can fail at speed. With the monitoring untrustworthy, the pressures need checking by hand, with a gauge, regularly. That is the practical advice, and it is worth more than the diagnosis.
