The car drives normally. The interior lights may stay on, refuse to come on, or behave oddly.
The reason to fix it rather than ignore it is the battery. A car whose lights will not switch off properly often will not go to sleep either, and that flattens the battery over a few days of standing. If yours has needed jump-starting after a quiet week, this is a likely cause.
A quick check in the meantime: look into the boot and the glovebox at night with the doors shut as far as you can manage, and see whether a lamp is staying lit. A boot lamp that never goes out is a classic flat-battery cause.
If any additional interior or ambient lighting has been fitted, mention it. Aftermarket strips wired into the factory circuits change what the module measures and produce this without anything having failed.

Interior lighting looks like the least important thing in this range, and it has one consequence that is not: a car whose lights will not go out does not go to sleep.
Modern interior lighting is a managed system rather than a switch — courtesy delays, fade-out, footwell and ambient lighting, boot and glovebox lamps, and the dimming that follows the headlights. The module coordinates all of it and reports what it is doing.
When its data is rejected, the visible symptom is usually trivial — lights that stay on, will not come on, or fade at the wrong time. The invisible one is the battery. A lighting module that keeps its outputs energised, or keeps the network awake waiting for a state that never settles, drains a car that is standing. A vehicle that needs jump-starting after a week is often reporting exactly this.
The causes are the ordinary ones of a body module, with one addition worth naming: ambient lighting is a common aftermarket retrofit, and strip lighting spliced into a factory circuit changes the load the module measures. A car with added interior lighting reporting this code is reporting the retrofit.
