The car drives normally, but this is one of the more expensive modules on the car, so it is worth being certain before anybody replaces it.
On your car the screen and its controls are one assembly, which means a fault takes both together and neither can be tested against the other.
Three cheap things should be ruled out first, and they are all common: whether a software update was left half-finished, whether the connectors behind the unit are sound, and whether any part of the system has been replaced with an aftermarket or second-hand unit. Ask specifically whether these have been checked before agreeing to a replacement.
Judge urgency by what you lose. If your heating, demisting and reversing camera are only reachable through this screen, get it done promptly — a windscreen you cannot demist is a safety problem. If you have physical heater controls, it can wait for a considered repair.

The front controls/display interface module is broadcasting data that cannot be accepted as true. See U0400 for what an invalid-data code is and why the module it names is usually the messenger rather than the culprit.
This is the combined unit — one assembly carrying both the screen and the controls around it — which is why it has a title of its own rather than sharing with U0556 and U0557.
The combination matters for one practical reason: there is no way to separate the two halves diagnostically. On a vehicle with a separate display and controller you can tell which failed by which still works. Here you cannot, and a fault takes both away together.
It also concentrates the cost. A cracked touch surface, a spilled drink, or a failed backlight condemns an assembly that includes functioning electronics, and these are among the more expensive modules to replace on an otherwise healthy car — which makes it worth being certain the module is at fault before it is replaced.
So the order of work matters more here than elsewhere in this range. Check the software versions match, check the connectors behind the unit, and rule out an aftermarket head unit or a second-hand donor part before condemning the assembly. All three are common, and all three are cheap compared with the part.
As at U0556, urgency follows function: if the heating and demisting live on this screen, it is not an entertainment fault.
