Wat te doen
Ask for the connector to be unplugged, cleaned and dried before any part is ordered. This circuit only has to answer whether the hose is plugged in, and a reading in between usually means oil has crept into the connector and is partly conducting — cleaning it is often the whole repair.
Ask why the oil got there. If the breather separator is passing oil or a hose is weeping, the connector will simply fill up again — so the source matters as much as the clean.
Mention any oil consumption, oil leaks, or oil visible in the intake pipework.
The car will usually drive normally, but the emissions self-checks will not complete while it is stored.
Wat deze code betekent
The crankcase ventilation hose connection sensor is reporting a value that is valid but does not fit.
On a circuit whose whole job is to answer a yes-or-no question — is the hose plugged in — a range/performance fault is a strange result, and that strangeness is the diagnostic clue. The circuit is designed to sit at one of two clearly separated values. A reading between them means something is partially conducting.
Which narrows the causes sharply, because only a few things do that.
- Oil bridging the terminals. This is the dominant cause. Breather oil mist reaches the connector, wicks in, and provides a leakage path that is neither open nor a proper connection — exactly the in-between value this code describes.
- Water doing the same, which is why the fault can follow a wet spell or an engine bay wash.
- A corroded terminal making partial contact, or a connector not fully latched so it touches intermittently.
- A damaged resistor or link in the connector, where the detection is done that way.
This is the code where cleaning genuinely is the repair rather than a delaying tactic. Unplug it, clean and dry both halves properly, reseat it, and clear the code.
Fix the oil source too, or it returns. Oil reaching that connector means the separator is passing more than it should, or a hose is weeping — and the connector will simply fill again.
