Wheels lock or drag while driving
The driven wheels bind, drag or lock while the vehicle is moving, with no brake input from the driver. Rare and genuinely dangerous rather than merely expensive: at speed it behaves like the handbrake being applied hard and without warning. A transmission with two gears engaged at once will do it, since a planetary gearset given conflicting commands locks solid rather than averaging them, and so will a seized driveline component. Stop as soon as it is safe and have the vehicle recovered — this is not a fault to drive on and see whether it repeats.
