P265B: Positionssensor des Kipphebelstellers B — Stromkreis, Bereich/Funktion, Bank 1
Was zu tun ist
Start with the oil, as with everything else in this family — level, grade, and when it was last changed. These actuators are worked by engine oil pressure through fine screens, and a slow-moving actuator and a failing sensor produce the same code, so an overdue service is a genuine possible answer here rather than a brush-off.
You may notice nothing at all. Depending on the engine this can mean slightly worse fuel consumption, a car that feels flat only at high revs, or no change you would ever detect.
Ask what the position sensor is part of before agreeing to replace it. On some engines it is a separate sensor on the outside; on others it is inside an assembly under the camshaft, and the two are very different bills.
Was dieser Code bedeutet
The sensor reporting where the B rocker arm actuator on bank 1 has actually got to is producing a signal that is electrically valid and does not fit. The mechanism is at P2645; what B refers to on a particular engine is at P2650.
What is new on this page is the sensor, because most engines with these actuators do not have one. On the majority of variable-lift and cylinder-deactivation systems the module never sees the locking pin at all — it commands the solenoid and then infers success from an oil pressure switch, which is why P2646 spends its whole page on that switch and on the order in which to suspect it.
An engine carrying a dedicated position sensor is one whose designers wanted better than an inference, and that changes what this code is worth: it is the mechanism's own account of itself rather than a deduction from oil pressure somewhere near it.
Range/performance means the signal is present and wrong, and it fails in three recognisable ways:
- It never reaches the value the engaged or the released position should produce, so the pin is not travelling its full stroke.
- It gets there too slowly. These actuators are moved by engine oil pressure, so a marginal supply — hot idle, thin or degraded oil, a partly blocked screen — shows up as a transition the module times and rejects.
- It disagrees with everything else. The sensor claims one state while fuel trims, misfire counters or the oil pressure switch report the other.
Oil comes first here exactly as it does everywhere else in this family, and for a reason specific to this code: a slow actuator and a drifting sensor set the same code, and one of those two is a service rather than a repair.
Find out what the sensor is part of before anyone prices the job. On several of these engines it is built into the rocker or lifter carrier rather than bolted to the outside of it, so replacing the sensor can mean lifting the camshaft carrier — a completely different piece of work from the connector-and-wiring job the code sounds like.

Was einen Bericht lesenswert macht:
- Das Fahrzeug — Marke, Modell, Baujahr und Motor. Derselbe Fehler verhält sich auf jedem anders.
- Was Sie gemessen haben, nicht nur, was Sie getauscht haben.
- Was es tatsächlich behoben hat — oder dass nichts es behoben hat, was ebenso nützlich ist.
