Wat te doen
This is the measurement behind the car's judgement of whether the 12-volt battery is being charged or drained, so a fault here can produce battery warnings on a healthy battery — or, worse, silence about one that is genuinely failing. If the 12-volt battery has been flat, mention it: this code and P0C38 are the two that explain it without the battery being at fault.
Wat deze code betekent
The second current sensor on the 14 volt power module has a circuit fault.
The 14 volt power module is what keeps the ordinary car alive, and sensor A is already written at P0A86. It converts the traction pack down to the supply that runs the lights, the modules, the pumps and the locks — the alternator's job, done by electronics.
What this sensor measures is not how much the module is producing but which way the 12-volt system's energy is flowing, and that distinction is the whole point. Current into the battery means it is being charged; current out means it is being drained. So this is how the car knows whether it will start tomorrow morning, and it is the measurement behind a warning that the vehicle may not restart.
Two sensors exist for the reason two exist anywhere in this corpus: a single sensor drifting is undetectable and two disagreeing is not — the argument written out at P0B13 for the traction pack, applied to the low-voltage side.
The symptom of a fault here is rarely dramatic and often misread: a car that reports battery warnings with a healthy battery, or one that quietly stops warning about a battery that genuinely is failing.
