O que fazer
If this appeared straight after a flat battery, a battery change, throttle body cleaning, or codes being cleared, that is almost certainly the whole story. The throttle has lost its learned idle position and needs the relearn procedure, which is usually a few minutes and no parts. A high or hunting idle immediately after that kind of work is this, far more often than it is a failed throttle body — and fitting a new throttle body without doing the relearn produces exactly the same complaint. Ask for the relearn to be carried out and the car assessed afterwards, before agreeing to any part.

The module has no stored idle position for the throttle. This is not a fault report. It is the throttle saying it has not been calibrated yet — and it is one of the most expensively misread codes in the drive-by-wire family.
Why a throttle needs to learn anything. On a cable throttle, idle was set by a stop screw and stayed where it was put. On a drive-by-wire throttle there is no screw: idle is a position the motor holds, and the module has to know which sensor voltage corresponds to the plate resting closed on this particular throttle body, at this temperature, with this much carbon on it. That figure is learned and stored. It is not a design constant, because no two throttle bodies read identically and the same one does not read identically across its life.
How the stored value gets erased. Almost always by something entirely routine:
- The battery was disconnected, or went flat.
- The throttle body was cleaned or removed.
- The engine module was replaced, reprogrammed or reset.
- Fault codes were cleared with a scan tool that also cleared adaptations.
What it looks like afterwards, and why that is the trap. An engine running without a learned idle position runs on a default. It idles high, or hunts, or stalls when the throttle closes at a junction, or feels unresponsive off the line. Every one of those is a symptom a driver associates with a broken throttle body — and a throttle body was very likely just cleaned or disturbed, which makes the timing look damning. So a part is replaced, the new one is fitted without a relearn either, and the fault is identical afterwards.
The corpus has made this argument before, for the automated manual gearbox at P0949: adaptations erased by routine work leave a healthy machine behaving like a worn one, and the repair is a procedure rather than a part. This is the throttle version, and it is more common because far more cars have a drive-by-wire throttle than an automated manual.
The relearn itself is usually free, takes a few minutes, and is often nothing more than ignition on without cranking for a specified period, sometimes followed by a short drive. Some vehicles do it unprompted; some need a scan tool to start it. Either way, it is labour measured in minutes against a part measured in hundreds.
