Treat every driver assistance system as unavailable, and expect the car to have switched them off itself. That shutdown is deliberate — the systems that steer and brake refuse instructions they cannot verify, which is exactly what you would want them to do.
The car is otherwise unaffected: steering, brakes and engine are normal and entirely yours.
Mention any of these, because they are the usual causes and they sound harmless: a windscreen replacement, bumper or grille work, a low-speed knock while parking, or a recent software update at a dealer.
Do not agree to replacing this module early. It is one of the most expensive parts on the car, and the fault is usually in what it is being told — a camera or radar that needs recalibrating, or software that was updated on one module and not another.

The difference between this and U015C is the whole page, and it is not a technicality. A module that has gone silent is a module that has stopped acting. A module that is talking nonsense is one that is still issuing requests — and what this module requests is steering torque and braking.
So the code is evidence of the safety architecture working exactly as designed. The steering and braking modules do not simply obey; they check what they are asked to do against what the vehicle is actually doing, and they refuse a request that fails the check. A steering module that acted on an implausible demand is the failure nobody would survive explaining, which is why the refusal is built in and why the whole system shuts down rather than degrading gracefully.
The causes cluster around agreement rather than around parts. This module fuses camera, radar and vehicle motion into a single picture, and the sources have to agree within tight limits:
- Calibration. A camera or radar disturbed by windscreen replacement, bumper work or a parking knock aims slightly wrong, so its picture disagrees with the others.
- Software mismatch. These modules are updated as a set. One module updated and another not is a genuine and common cause of two systems describing the same road differently.
- An obstructed or misaligned sensor, which distorts one input rather than removing it.
- Supply and network faults, which corrupt what arrives rather than stopping it.
The corpus's standing warning applies here with unusual force. This module is among the most expensive on the vehicle, and the fault is very often in what it is being told rather than in the module. Calibration records and the codes stored in the camera and radar come first.
