The car drives normally, but your driver assistance systems have stopped — lane departure warning, lane keeping, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beam, and on many cars part of the automatic emergency braking.
Assume the car will not warn you if you drift out of lane and will not brake for you. That is the important sentence. These systems change how much you rely on your own attention without you noticing, so drive as though none of them is there.
The first question is whether the windscreen has been replaced. This camera sits behind the glass at the top of the screen, and a screen change disturbs it — but the bigger issue is calibration. A camera looking through new glass has to be re-aligned to the car with proper equipment, and if that was skipped the camera can work perfectly while looking slightly the wrong way. Ask specifically whether it was recalibrated.
Also worth mentioning: any chip, crack or repair in the glass directly in front of the camera, and whether the wipers clear that area properly. The camera looks through one small window, and anything in it degrades what it sees.

An image processing sensor is a camera with a computer in it, and the distinction from a plain camera like the reversing unit at U0264 is what this page is for. A reversing camera sends a picture to a screen for a person to interpret. An image processing sensor interprets the picture itself and sends conclusions — a lane marking here, a vehicle there, a speed limit sign, a pedestrian — to the systems that act on them.
So the consequence is not a blank screen. It is driver assistance quietly ceasing to work. Depending on the vehicle, sensor A commonly serves lane departure warning and lane keeping, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beam, forward collision warning, and on many vehicles part of the automatic emergency braking decision.
That is the safety point, and it is the same argument the corpus makes at P2583 and U0232: a system that has silently stopped is worse than one that was never fitted, because the habit it replaced has already been given up. Until it is fixed, assume the car will not warn you about lane drift and will not brake for you.
Where this sensor lives determines almost everything about its faults: behind the windscreen, at the top, usually in the same housing as the mirror.
Windscreen replacement is therefore the single most important question to ask, and for two reasons rather than one. The obvious one is that the sensor is disturbed. The less obvious and more expensive one is calibration: a camera looking through glass must be aligned to the vehicle after the glass changes, using a target board at a measured distance on level ground. A screen replaced without recalibration leaves a camera that works perfectly and is looking slightly wrong, which is worse than one that has stopped.
And the glass itself matters. These cameras look through a specific area of the screen, and a replacement without the correct optical specification — or with a chip, a repair or a wiper smear in the camera's window — degrades what it sees while looking perfectly acceptable to a person.
