O que fazer
Expect the steering to feel wrong rather than to fail. You will not lose steering.
This code means two of the car's computers are running software that does not belong together, and the system that decides how much steering assistance to give at a given speed cannot verify its settings.
Most likely the assistance has gone to a fixed level or switched off. The steering will be heavier — noticeably so when parking — and completely controllable. Allow for that in tight spaces, and be ready for it the first time you turn the wheel.
One particular version is worth reporting if you notice it: heavy at parking speed and light on the motorway. That is the exact opposite of how it should behave, and it usually means the steering is being given the wrong road speed rather than having a fault of its own — which points the diagnosis somewhere quite different and saves time.
If the effort changes unpredictably while you are driving — going light and heavy on its own — stop and have it recovered. That is not the same fault and it is not safe to drive through.
Otherwise this is prompt rather than urgent, and it is a programming job rather than a repair.

A module is running software that does not belong with the steering effort control module's. See U0300 for the family and U0320 for the assist curve, which is where most of the consequence sits.
Steering effort control is the part of an assisted steering system that decides how much help to give at a given road speed — a great deal at parking speeds, very little at motorway speeds, because assistance that stayed constant would make a fast car feel weightless and unstable.
Which is why the speed input matters more here than the module does. Road speed arrives from the anti-lock braking module — see U0315 — so a mismatch anywhere in that chain can leave the steering acting on a speed that is wrong.
And that produces a complaint worth recognising: steering that is heavy in a car park and light on a motorway is the assist curve applied to a wrong speed, which is the opposite of what the system exists to do and is unsettling at speed rather than merely awkward.
The safe failure is the usual one. A system that cannot verify its configuration reverts to a fixed assistance level or to none at all — and hydraulic-assisted steering with the assistance gone is heavy but entirely controllable, while electric steering that has failed to a fixed level simply feels wrong rather than dangerous. Neither loses steering; both need more effort at parking speeds.
So the instruction is to allow for heavier steering when manoeuvring, and to have it looked at promptly rather than urgently — unless the effort changes unpredictably while driving, which is a reason to stop.
