Que faire

The gas gauge will be wrong or stuck, and the car may run out of gas without warning — it will switch to petrol, so you will not be stranded. Worth fixing rather than living with: a tank whose level is misreported can be overfilled at a filling station, and a gas tank needs its vapour space.

Ce que signifie ce code

The circuit for the level sensor on gaseous fuel tank B is faulty.

Level and pressure are measured separately on a gas tank, and the reason is that pressure cannot tell you how much fuel is left.

LPG in a tank is a liquid under its own vapour pressure, and that pressure is set by temperature rather than by quantity. A nearly empty tank and a nearly full one read almost the same pressure at the same temperature. So the gauge needs a real level sensor — usually a float on an arm driving a magnet, read through the tank wall so nothing electrical penetrates a pressure vessel.

That through-the-wall arrangement is why these sensors are less accurate than a petrol sender and why owners distrust the gauge. It is also why the commonest fault is not electrical at all: a float arm fouling on the tank wall or on debris, which pins the reading at one value.

A level sensor fault matters more than a petrol one, because of the 80% rule. A gas tank is deliberately never filled beyond about four-fifths, leaving vapour space for the liquid to expand into as it warms. A tank whose level is misreported can be overfilled — and an overfilled tank warming in the sun has nowhere to expand, which is what the relief valve is for and what nobody wants to test.

So the practical consequence is a gauge nobody can trust and a car that runs out of gas without warning — recoverable, because it falls back to petrol, but the underlying fault is worth fixing rather than working around.

Comes and goes. On a tank sensor this is usually the connector, which lives under the boot floor where it meets road spray and gets disturbed by anyone loading luggage.
