Que faire
Expect the entertainment, navigation and phone systems to have stopped. The car will usually drive normally.
One question finds most of these: has a stereo, amplifier, subwoofer or screen been fitted or changed?
Not because installers are careless, but because of where the work happens. Behind a dashboard or in a boot panel, the network wires sit among the speaker wiring, the power feeds and the earths — and they look exactly like ordinary signal wires.
So the first thing to do is unplug the added equipment and re-test. That is free, takes minutes, and settles a large share of these before any trim comes off.
And if a non-original stereo is fitted, mention that separately. These need a proper vehicle-specific interface to talk to the car, and one fitted without it causes network faults of its own, quite apart from any wiring damage.
Also worth mentioning: whether the fault came and went before becoming permanent, which points at a wire rubbing through rather than a bad connection.

The positive line of vehicle communication bus C is being held low. See U0004 for the short-to-earth argument and U0048 for why this code confirms the network is copper.
Where this bus carries the entertainment systems, one cause outranks the rest and it is the corpus's standing one for that area: an aftermarket head unit or amplifier installation.
The reason is proximity rather than incompetence. An installer working behind a dashboard or in a boot side panel is surrounded by the bus pair, the speaker wiring, the power feeds and the earths — and the bus pair is the one bundle in there that looks like an ordinary low-current signal wire and is not.
So the first move is to unplug the added equipment and re-test, which is free and settles a large share of these before any trim comes off.
And the U0485 argument applies to what happens next. A non-original head unit needs a proper vehicle-specific interface, and one fitted without it is a cause of network faults quite apart from any physical damage.
