The car drives normally, but treat both blind spots as unmonitored and check over your shoulder. Most vehicles shut the whole system down when one side fails, rather than leaving you guessing which half still works — so do not assume the good side is still warning you.

The side matters, and it is worth mentioning. Kerb-side parking knocks, road spray and salt all land more heavily on one side of a car, and on many vehicles the exhaust exits on one side only, putting extra heat near that sensor. A fault that keeps coming back on the same side is usually about where the car lives and how it is parked, not a bad part — and simply fitting another sensor will produce the same outcome again.

Otherwise see U0232: rear bumper damage, water ingress, and connectors disturbed by bodywork are the usual causes, and calibration after any bumper removal is not optional.

Ce que signifie ce code

The second side obstacle detection module has stopped being heard from — the other side of the pair described at U0232, where the safety argument and the causes are set out.

What a pair makes available is a comparison, and it is genuinely diagnostic here. Two sensors of the same age and specification, mounted symmetrically, exposed to the same weather and the same mileage.

  • Both silent points at something shared — the supply, the network branch, or the module that aggregates them — rather than at two sensors failing together.
  • One silent points at that corner, and then the question is what happened to that corner.

And the answer is often asymmetric in a way worth asking about. Kerb-side parking damage lands overwhelmingly on one side. Road spray and salt are heavier on the side nearer the gutter. On a vehicle where the exhaust exits one side only, that sensor lives above a heat source the other does not have. So a fault that keeps recurring on the same side is frequently about the vehicle's environment rather than a poor part, and repeating the same repair will keep producing the same result.

One consequence specific to losing one side is worth stating plainly: most systems shut down entirely rather than running on one sensor. A blind spot system that could only see one side would be more dangerous than none, because a driver would have no way of knowing which half was live. So expect the whole feature to be unavailable, and treat both blind spots as unmonitored.
