O que fazer

Expect warning lights in systems that have nothing to do with each other — brakes, climate control, instruments, driver assistance — and possibly a garage telling you their diagnostic equipment cannot connect properly.

That looks like the car falling apart and it is almost always one module. The gateway is the translator between the car's separate internal networks. Almost nothing originates there; everything passes through. So when it is unhappy, everything downstream complains at once.

Two practical things are worth telling whoever looks at it.

If the battery has been going flat over a few days, say so. A gateway that will not let the car go to sleep is a well-known cause of exactly that, and it is normally answered with a new battery and then a new alternator before anyone looks at the network.

If this started right after a software update, a module replacement or something being retrofitted, say that too. It is the commonest reason a gateway starts rejecting what it is given, and it is a configuration job rather than a repair.

Most of the time the real fault is not the gateway at all but a module on one of the networks it connects, faithfully passed on. Ask for the other stored codes to be dealt with first.

O que este código significa

The gateway module is broadcasting data that cannot be accepted as true. See U0400 for the family's framing.

A gateway is the one module in the vehicle that originates almost nothing, and that single fact changes how this code should be read.

A modern vehicle does not have one network. It has several, running at different speeds because they carry different work: a fast bus for the powertrain, where a late message matters; a slower one for body electrics, where it does not; a cheap single-wire network for switches, motors and lamps; and on well-equipped cars a separate high-bandwidth network for entertainment. These cannot talk to each other directly. The gateway is the translator, and every message crossing from one network to another passes through it.

So invalid data from a gateway is usually invalid data that arrived at it. The gateway repeated faithfully what it was handed, and the fault is on the far side — which is why this code so often appears alongside others naming a specific module, and why those are the ones to work on.

The exception is a gateway translating or routing wrongly rather than relaying wrongly, and it has a signature: it starts after something changed. A software update applied to one module and not the gateway, a module added or removed, a coding change, a retrofit. That is the U0300 argument, and it belongs here.

Two things make a gateway fault recognisable, and both are worth knowing before any money is spent.

The first is breadth. Everything crosses the gateway, so when it is in trouble the warnings appear in systems with nothing in common — brakes, climate, instruments, driver assistance. The picture reads as a catastrophe and is one module.

The second is the diagnostic socket itself. On practically every vehicle built this century the socket is wired to the gateway rather than to the buses directly, so a scan tool reaches the modules through it. A gateway in trouble therefore produces the one symptom nothing else does: a tool that connects to some modules and not others, or times out on the whole vehicle. It is also what makes the fault awkward to work on, because the instrument that would explain it is speaking through the thing that is wrong.

One further consequence, and it is the expensive one to miss. The gateway is normally among the modules deciding when the vehicle may sleep. A gateway that will not settle keeps the networks awake and flattens a healthy battery in a few days — a fault answered almost every time with a new battery and then a new alternator, neither of which is the problem. U0215 makes the same argument from the other end.

  • O carro — marca, modelo, ano e motor. A mesma falha se comporta de forma diferente em cada um.
  • O que você mediu, não só o que trocou.
  • O que realmente resolveu — ou que nada resolveu, o que também vale saber.
