U0328: Incompatibilité logicielle avec le module du capteur d'angle de braquage
Que faire
Your stability control and traction control are off. The car steers and brakes normally — there is just nothing catching a mistake now. Leave more room in the wet and take wet junctions and roundabouts gently.
Nothing is broken. This code means two computers are running software that does not belong together.
The reason it matters is worth understanding. The steering sensor reports a raw position, and the crucial number is which position means "straight ahead" — a setting stored in the car, not something the sensor knows by itself. Every system that compares what you asked for against what the car is doing measures from that reference. When it cannot be verified, the car sensibly switches those systems off rather than acting on a possibly wrong idea of where you are pointing.
One thing to expect after the repair, so you do not think it failed. The straight-ahead point has to be reset afterwards — car stationary, wheels straight, on level ground. Until that is done the warning light stays on and the systems stay off. It is a quick procedure, not a second fault.
And one thing worth mentioning if it applies. Has the car had a wheel alignment, a steering rack, track rod ends, or suspension work recently? All of those need that same calibration afterwards, and a fault appearing right after one of them is very often a step that was skipped rather than anything broken.
Ce que signifie ce code
A module is running software that does not belong with the steering angle sensor module's. See U0300 for the family and U0316 for the stability system this sensor feeds.
A steering angle sensor reports a raw position, and the single most important number associated with it is not in the sensor at all: it is which raw value means straight ahead.
That zero point is a calibration, established with the vehicle stationary, on level ground, wheels straight — and it is the reference every downstream system measures from. A sensor is useless without it, and a sensor with the wrong one is worse than useless, because it reports confidently.
So a software mismatch here matters out of proportion to the part. A vehicle that believes the wheel is turned while it is straight — or straight while it is turned — is comparing the driver's intention against the vehicle's motion using a wrong intention. Stability control's whole method is that comparison, and it cannot be run on a reference it cannot verify.
Which is why the vehicle switches the system off rather than working with an approximation, and why that is the right decision. An intervention computed from a wrong steering angle would brake the wrong wheel — and doing that at speed is worse than doing nothing at all.
So expect stability control, traction control and often adaptive lighting and lane keeping to be unavailable, and drive with the margin that implies.
Two things are worth knowing about the repair.
The zero point must be reset after the software is corrected, and until it is the lamp stays on and the system stays off — which looks exactly like a repair that did not work and is a five-minute procedure.
And this calibration is also required after ordinary work that has nothing to do with electronics: a four-wheel alignment, a steering rack, track rod ends, a clockspring, or a suspension repair that changed the geometry. A steering angle fault appearing after any of those is very often a calibration nobody performed rather than a fault at all.
