Wat te doen
Judder or growl when pulling away is one phase not pulling its weight — the electric equivalent of a misfire. Driveable with care if drive remains, but do not leave it: an unbalanced machine stresses the phases that still work. Ask whether insulation resistance has been measured before any motor or inverter quote — that one test separates the cheap answers from the expensive ones. The phase cables are high-voltage: no home diagnosis of any kind.
Wat deze code betekent
The current in one of the drive motor's three phases is wrong — and which phase is almost beside the point, because the three-phase codes share one argument worth learning once.
A three-phase motor is three identical circuits that must agree. The inverter drives current through windings U, V and W in rotation, and in a healthy machine the three currents balance — same magnitude, shifted in time. The module watches each phase and compares them, so a phase code is really a disagreement code: one circuit has stopped matching its siblings.
Only a handful of things can unbalance one phase, and they sort cleanly by cost. A cable or connection — one of the three heavy orange conductors between inverter and motor, damaged or loose at a terminal. The winding — insulation breakdown in that phase, the genuine motor failure. The inverter's output stage for that phase — six switches serve three phases, and one pair failing takes one phase with it. Or the sensor watching it, lying about a phase that is fine (the P0A51 family). One measurement separates most of these: insulation resistance, phase to phase and phase to ground, tells a winding fault from everything else before either the motor or the inverter is condemned — the corpus's cheapest-first argument, applied to the two most expensive parts on the car.
The symptom has a signature: a motor missing one phase produces lumpy torque — judder and growl when pulling away, smoothing out as speed rises — which is the electric machine's version of a dead cylinder.
