P2251: Negativer Strom der Lambdasonde — Steuerstromkreis unterbrochen, Bank 1 Sensor 1
Was zu tun ist
Expect worse economy and reduced power — the same as for a positive circuit fault, because either end failing stops the measurement. If the equivalent bank 2 code is stored too, say so. On many engines the return path is shared between both sensors, so one break produces both codes with nothing wrong with either sensor, and two wideband sensors is an expensive way to discover that.
Was dieser Code bedeutet
An open circuit in the negative current control line to the upstream sensor on bank 1.
The positive and negative lines are the two ends of one circuit, and understanding that removes most of the confusion about why both families exist. The pump cell described at P2237 needs current to flow through it, so the module drives one side and provides the return on the other. Which direction the current flows is what distinguishes a rich exhaust from a lean one — the module pumps oxygen into the measurement chamber or out of it as required.
Two things follow:
- A break at either end stops the pump cell completely, so a negative control fault and a positive control fault produce identical driving symptoms and identical fuelling behaviour. The codes differ; the experience does not. Establishing which end is open is a wiring measurement rather than something the symptoms will reveal.
- The negative line is sometimes a shared return for both sensors, where the positive drives are separate. Where that is the arrangement, a single break produces negative current control faults on both banks while each sensor is perfectly healthy — the corpus's most repeated argument, appearing here in a form that is easy to miss because the two codes look like independent confirmation of two failures.
So the useful question when this code appears alongside its bank 2 counterpart is not "why did both sensors fail" but "what do their return paths have in common".

Dazu wurde noch nichts veröffentlicht. Was immer Sie gefunden haben, ist es wert, aufgeschrieben zu werden — selbst eine Sackgasse erspart jemandem denselben Nachmittag.
Was einen Bericht lesenswert macht:
- Das Fahrzeug — Marke, Modell, Baujahr und Motor. Derselbe Fehler verhält sich auf jedem anders.
- Was Sie gemessen haben, nicht nur, was Sie getauscht haben.
- Was es tatsächlich behoben hat — oder dass nichts es behoben hat, was ebenso nützlich ist.
