If the display projected onto your windscreen is showing anything odd, use the speedometer on the dashboard and treat the projection as unreliable. Switch it off if the car lets you.
The reason is worth understanding. A head-up display exists so you do not have to look down, which also means you read it without thinking about it. A frozen or wrong speed sitting in your forward view gets believed in a way the same error on the dashboard would not.
The car is otherwise fine to drive, and the display is almost never the actual fault — it is showing you a figure another computer sent it, so the problem is usually upstream.
One separate thing worth knowing, because it is often confused with this. If the image looks doubled, ghosted or blurred rather than wrong, that is the windscreen, not the electronics. Cars with a head-up display need a special screen with a wedge-shaped layer inside it to stop the two reflections separating. A replacement screen of the wrong type produces exactly that ghosting, and no fault code at all. If the glass has been changed recently, that is the place to start.

A head-up display projects speed, navigation instructions, cruise settings and warnings into the driver's line of sight, and that placement is the whole point of the device. It exists so the driver does not look down.
Which is exactly why a wrong figure here is worse than a wrong figure anywhere else in the car. A number that appears in the driver's forward view, superimposed on the road, is believed without the deliberate glance that a dashboard reading requires. A stale or frozen speed on a head-up display is the corpus's clearest example of a display fault with a real-world consequence, because it is read continuously and checked against nothing.
So the practical instruction is specific: if the head-up display is showing anything questionable, use the speedometer. If the projected figure is frozen, wrong, or disagrees with the dial, treat the dial as correct and the projection as decoration until it is fixed. Where the display can be switched off, switching it off is better than leaving a wrong number in the driver's eyeline.
One thing this code is emphatically not, and separating it saves a wasted diagnosis. A doubled, ghosted or blurred image is not an electronic fault. A head-up display needs a windscreen with a wedge-shaped interlayer to make the two reflections coincide, and a replacement screen of the wrong specification produces exactly that doubling with no code stored at all. If the complaint is image quality rather than image content, the screen is the first thing to check.
Otherwise the family's rule holds: the projector is repeating what it was given, so any code naming the module that supplies the wrong value is the fault to work on.
