The car drives normally. Voice control may have stopped responding, or stopped understanding.
Ask two questions before paying for a diagnosis. Has hands-free calling also got worse — do callers say you sound distant or muffled? If so, one microphone explains both, and that microphone is usually in the roof lining near the mirror. And has anything been done to the windscreen, roof lining, mirror or sunroof recently? That is where the microphone lives, and a connector left unseated is the common cause.
Third possibility, and it is not a fault: if your car's voice assistant depends on the manufacturer's online service, that service may simply have been withdrawn or the subscription lapsed. No repair to the car brings that back — worth establishing before anybody starts replacing modules.

The speech recognition module is broadcasting data that cannot be accepted as true. See U0400 for what an invalid-data code is and why the module it names is usually the messenger rather than the culprit.
Voice control is the feature most often blamed for being poor when it is actually broken, and this code is how you tell the difference.
The module takes audio from one or more cabin microphones, processes it, and publishes what it believes was said — sometimes locally, sometimes by sending audio to an off-vehicle service and receiving text back. Its reported state includes microphone health and, where relevant, whether that connection is available.
The microphone is the first suspect and it is nearly always in the headlining — in the overhead console, near the interior mirror, or in the roof lining above the driver. Which means any headlining, mirror, windscreen or sunroof work disturbs it, and a microphone lead left unclipped or a connector not reseated produces exactly this.
The second cause is the hands-free system it shares hardware with. If voice control and hands-free calling have both deteriorated, one microphone or one module explains both, and callers reporting that you sound distant is the same symptom from the other end.
The third is not a fault at all: an off-board service that has been withdrawn. Voice assistants that depend on a manufacturer's servers stop working when those servers are retired or a subscription lapses, and no repair to the car will bring them back.
