Wat te doen
The car drives normally. You may see an interior light that will not go out, a door-open warning that is wrong, or an alarm that will not set.
The one to take seriously is a battery that keeps going flat. A car that believes a door is open never fully powers down — it stays awake all night drawing many times its normal standby current, and the battery is dead within days. If your battery has been going flat and this code is stored, that is very likely the whole explanation. It is worth saying before anyone sells you a battery, an alternator, or an afternoon of drain testing.
Check the simple things first: make sure the door is actually shutting fully, and look at the latch on the door edge for dirt, corrosion or a sticking mechanism. A squirt of the right lubricant into a sticky latch occasionally resolves the whole thing.
Be aware that on most modern cars the switch is built into the door latch, so the repair is a latch rather than a switch, and it needs the door card off. Ask for the door harness — the concertina between body and door — to be checked at the same time, since everything in the door reports through it.

A door switch reports one bit of information — is this door open — and that single bit does more work than almost anything else on the body network. It turns the interior lights on, sounds the door-ajar warning, tells the alarm whether it may arm, tells central locking whether it may lock, and on many vehicles decides whether the car is allowed to go to sleep.
That last item is the reason this code deserves a proper page, because it produces a complaint nobody connects to a door.
A parked modern vehicle does not switch off — it powers down in stages over several minutes, and it will only do so once it believes it is closed, locked and unoccupied. A door the car thinks is open holds it awake. Interior lights stay on or keep re-lighting, body modules stay powered, and the vehicle draws several times its proper standing current all night. The result is a battery flat in a few days, on a car whose battery and charging system are both perfectly healthy.
So a flat-battery complaint alongside a door switch code is a complete diagnosis, and it is worth stating plainly because the usual path is a new battery, then an alternator, then a parasitic drain hunt — all of it expensive, and none of it touching the actual fault.
Two more consequences worth predicting: the alarm may refuse to arm, or may sound spuriously; and the car may refuse to lock properly, which is a security problem rather than an inconvenience.
Physically, the switch is rarely a switch any more. On most modern vehicles it is integrated into the door latch assembly, which means the part is a latch and the job is a door strip — and it also means water and road salt reaching the latch is the dominant failure mode, since a latch sits in the open at the door edge. The other classic is the door harness boot at U0200, because everything in the door reports through it.
