U0053: Barramento de comunicação do veículo C — (−) alto
O que fazer
This is one of the faults that can damage things rather than just stopping them — see U0050. Battery voltage has got onto a network wire, and on this network the units connected to it are expensive and often coded to your car.
Be prepared for a repair in two stages, and do not keep using the system until the short is found.
Two things to mention. Does it only happen when the stereo is loud? That points at an amplifier's earth connection — see U0052. And has anything been fitted? A stereo, amplifier, subwoofer, tracker or dashcam.
Ask for the added equipment to be unplugged and the car re-tested before any trim comes off. On this network the wiring is mostly behind boot panels and under seats, so most of the labour in this job is getting to it rather than repairing it — which makes a free test that might avoid the whole search unusually valuable.

The negative line of vehicle communication bus C is being held high. Everything at U0050 applies, including the module-damage warning and the reason it costs more on this network than most.
And U0052's amplifier earth is the specific mechanism worth checking first here, because a badly made high-current earth can carry voltage as readily as it can fail to carry current — particularly where an installation has taken its earth from a point that is itself fed by something else.
One practical note. On this network the affected modules are frequently in the boot or under a seat rather than in the engine bay, so the search is a trim-removal job rather than a wiring-loom one — and that is worth knowing when a quote arrives, because the labour is in getting to the wiring rather than in the repair itself.
Unplugging added equipment and re-testing therefore saves more here than anywhere else in this range.
