Leave a bit more margin in the wet than you normally would.
Your car has an electronically controlled rear differential, and this code means the computer running it has stopped talking to the rest of the car.
On many cars the stability system uses that differential to keep the car tidy — shuffling drive between the rear wheels is a smoother correction than grabbing a brake. Without it the stability control still works, using the brakes as cars always have, but it steps in later and more abruptly. If you are used to the car quietly sorting itself out, expect a jolt instead.
Also worth two minutes: drive slowly in a full-lock circle on dry tarmac. If the car binds, shudders or skips its rear tyres, the differential has stayed locked — drive as little as possible and say so, because that gets investigated as driveline damage and is not.
Otherwise this is not urgent. You will lose traction on mud, snow or a slippery slope, so do not rely on it there.
The rear axle is the wettest and saltiest part of the car and its wiring flexes with every bump, so ask for the harness and connectors to be checked before the differential itself — it is far more often the wiring.

The rear differential control module has stopped being heard from. The general reasoning is at U0100 and the binding test is at U0135, which applies here unchanged.
A controllable rear differential is far commoner than a front one, and it does more. On a four-wheel-drive vehicle it is the locker for traction. On a rear-driven performance car it is the torque-vectoring unit that decides how much drive each rear wheel gets — and that makes it part of how the car behaves rather than an accessory.
Which produces the one thing worth adding to U0135's page: the stability control system leans on it.
On vehicles where the electronic differential is part of the handling strategy, the stability system uses it as an actuator — biasing drive across the rear axle is a smoother way to correct a slide than braking a wheel. When it goes away, stability control falls back to brake intervention alone, which still works and is what most cars have always done, but it arrives later and more abruptly. A driver used to the car quietly sorting itself out will notice it now steps in with a jolt.
So the honest advice is to leave more margin in the wet than usual, and to treat any stability warning as meaning the system is running in a reduced form rather than switched off.
Do the full-lock test at U0135 as well. A rear differential stuck locked binds the same way and is if anything more noticeable, because the rear axle has no steering geometry to absorb it.
Where the fault is: the rear axle is the wettest, saltiest, most stone-blasted place on the vehicle, and the harness to it flexes with every bump. An open circuit here is very often the wiring rather than the unit.
