O que fazer

The car drives normally. This is a second sound processor, on a system big enough to have been split into two.

There is a free test worth doing, and it will genuinely narrow things down. Is the sound wrong everywhere, or only at one end of the car? If the front speakers sound wrong and the rear are fine — or the other way round — that confirms it is one of the processors rather than the stereo itself, because a fault in the stereo would affect all of it. If both ends are wrong, the problem is something feeding both processors, and there is no point replacing either.

And there is a second version of that test worth doing with a passenger. If a droning noise has appeared, is it worse in the back than the front, or the other way round? The noise cancellation works in zones, so a drone in one part of the cabin is a precise clue rather than an impression.

Everything at U0193 applies here too, including the point worth repeating: the car has not developed a new noise — it has stopped hiding an old one. If a drone or a coarser engine note appeared at the same time as this code, say so before anything is dismantled, because that gets investigated as an exhaust, a wheel bearing or an engine mount, and none of them has changed.

O que este código significa

A second digital audio control module has stopped being heard from. See U0193 for why a stopped noise-cancellation system sounds like a new noise, and U0495 for what a second processor usually is.

With two processors, silence gives a localising test that costs nothing and is worth doing before the vehicle goes anywhere.

Does the sound behave differently at one end of the cabin? Front speakers wrong and rear fine, or the reverse, confirms it is one processor rather than the head unit or the source — because a fault in either of those would affect all of it. Both ends wrong points past both processors to whatever feeds them, and replacing either would be wasted money.

And with the noise cancellation specifically, there is a second observation worth making. Cancellation is usually zoned — the microphones and the speakers doing it are distributed — so a drone that has appeared in the back of the car and not the front is a genuine and precise clue rather than an impression. It is also easy to check with a passenger.

Where a second processor exists at all, U0495's answer holds: a premium branded system large enough to have been divided, front and rear, or a processor at each end of a long vehicle. And U0193's misdiagnosis warning applies unchanged — a new drone or a coarser engine note is this fault far more often than it is an exhaust, a bearing or a mounting.

  • O carro — marca, modelo, ano e motor. A mesma falha se comporta de forma diferente em cada um.
