O que fazer

Two free checks here, and between them they cover most of these.

First: open and close the door slowly and watch whether the fault changes. If it does, the problem is a broken wire inside the rubber concertina between the door and the body. That wiring is flexed every single time the door is opened — and on the driver's door, which is opened more than all the others put together, it is the first to break. It breaks inside insulation that still looks perfect from outside, which is why nobody spots it. It is a repair to a few centimetres of wire rather than a new module, and telling the garage what you noticed points them straight at it.

Second: look for water. Door drain holes block with grit and leaves, the door fills up instead of draining, and the electronics inside sit in it. A sloshing noise from a door, or a damp footwell on that side, is a real clue.

Expect a group of things to have stopped together — the window, the mirror, the lock, the speaker, and the switch panel that operates all the windows from the driver's door. "None of the windows work from my door but each one works from its own switch" is a precise description of this fault, and worth saying in those words.

One more thing worth mentioning: has the battery been going flat over a few days? A car that cannot confirm a door is shut may never switch itself fully off, and that usually gets answered with a new battery and then a new alternator before anyone looks at the door.

O que este código significa

A door control module has stopped being heard from. The general reasoning is at U0100, and this code completes the family that runs from here through U0205 — modules B to G, written across the U02xx range.

On most vehicles A is the driver's door, and that is not a neutral fact. The driver's door is opened more often than every other door on the vehicle put together — every journey, every parking payment, every quick errand. So the harness boot that carries its wiring is flexed more times than any other on the vehicle, and it is the first to fail.

Which makes the free check the one the whole U02xx block turns on: does the fault change as the door is moved? The wiring passes through a rubber concertina between the door and the body, and copper work-hardens and breaks inside insulation that still looks perfect from outside. A code that comes and goes, or door functions that work with the door at one angle and not another, is a broken conductor in that boot rather than a failed module — a repair to a few centimetres of wire.

What goes quiet with it is a set rather than one thing: the window, the mirror, the lock, the door speaker, the courtesy lamp, and the switch pack that on most vehicles operates all the windows and mirrors from the driver's door. Losing that pack is why "none of the windows work from the driver's door but each works from its own switch" is a precise description of this fault.

And one consequence is expensive and does not look related. A door module that has gone quiet may leave the vehicle unable to confirm that the door is shut — and a vehicle that believes a door is open never powers down. The battery is flat in a few days, and it is normally answered with a new battery and then a new alternator. U0215 makes the same argument from the door switch's end, and it is worth reading alongside this.

The other cause is water, arriving the same way in every vehicle: drain holes clog with road grit, the door fills instead of draining, and the module sits in it. A sloshing noise from a door, or a damp footwell on that side, is worth mentioning before anything is ordered.

O que faz valer a leitura:

  • O carro — marca, modelo, ano e motor. A mesma falha se comporta de forma diferente em cada um.
