U0150: Kommunikationsverlust mit dem Gateway E für serielle Daten

Was zu tun ist

Expect equipment on the specialist or converted part of the vehicle to have stopped working — body equipment, a tail-lift, habitation systems, tracking or tachograph functions — rather than anything to do with driving.

Five of these translator modules means a vehicle that has been built up by more than one company: the manufacturer, then a body builder, often an equipment installer after that. Each of them added a network boundary, and each boundary is where wiring from two different designs meets.

So the single most useful thing you can do is work out who fitted what, before anyone starts testing. A franchised dealer has the drawings for the base vehicle and nothing else; the converter has theirs and may not know what was added later. A fault at a join that nobody has drawings for is what turns this into a long and expensive search.

On an ordinary car, this almost certainly means the car has been told it has equipment it does not have — which happens after a second-hand module is fitted from a better-equipped vehicle. Correcting the coding is the fix, and there is no fault to find.

The vehicle is normally safe to drive. Do not use any affected body equipment, trailer or lifting gear until it has been checked.

Was dieser Code bedeutet

A fifth gateway module has stopped being heard from. See U0146 for what a silent gateway does to everything behind it, U0148 for the converted-vehicle argument, and U0451 for the same module reporting implausibly instead.

Five gateways puts the vehicle firmly outside the passenger-car world, and the useful consequence is about who should look at it rather than about what has failed.

A vehicle with this many separate networks has almost certainly been through more than one pair of hands — the manufacturer, a body builder, and often a fleet or equipment installer after that. Each of them added a boundary, and each boundary is a place where wiring from two different designs meets.

Which produces the practical instruction: establish who fitted what before anyone starts testing. A franchised dealer has drawings for the base vehicle and nothing beyond it; the converter has drawings for their own work and may not know what was added afterwards. A fault at a join neither of them documented is what turns this into a long and expensive search, and the way to avoid that is to assemble the history first.

And the U0145 question still applies with full force: on a vehicle that has had second-hand modules fitted, a gateway coded as present but never installed reports this permanently with nothing to find.

Was einen Bericht lesenswert macht:

  • Das Fahrzeug — Marke, Modell, Baujahr und Motor. Derselbe Fehler verhält sich auf jedem anders.
  • Was Sie gemessen haben, nicht nur, was Sie getauscht haben.
  • Was es tatsächlich behoben hat — oder dass nichts es behoben hat, was ebenso nützlich ist.
