Battery Temperature Sensor
Lets the charging system vary voltage with battery temperature — a cold battery needs a higher charging voltage than a hot one, and getting it backwards either undercharges in winter or cooks the battery in summer. A wrong reading produces no immediate symptom at all; it shortens battery life quietly over months, and the failure appears later as an apparently unrelated flat battery.
