The car drives normally and the powered seat adjustment will have stopped.
The important question is whether the airbag warning light is on. On many vehicles this same module carries the sensing that decides whether the passenger airbag should fire and how hard — so if the airbag light is lit, the restraint system has lost information it needs and the passenger airbag may be switched off. That is worth sorting promptly rather than treating as a seat problem. If the airbag light is clear, this really is just convenience.
The commonest cause is the wiring under the seat. It flexes every time the seat slides, and it lives where feet, luggage and spilled drinks land. If anything has been done under or around the seats — carpet, trim, a sound system, any retrofit — mention it, because these connectors are routinely unplugged for access and left off.
Ask for the under-seat wiring, the connector and the fuse to be checked before the module is replaced.

A seat module is easy to dismiss as a comfort device, and on many vehicles that would be a mistake — because the same module very often carries the occupant classification system.
A modern front passenger seat contains a sensing mat or a load-sensing arrangement whose job is to decide whether the airbag should deploy, and how hard. An empty seat, a child seat and an adult all call for different behaviour, and getting it wrong is the difference between a restraint that helps and one that injures. Where that sensing reports through the seat module, losing the module means the restraints system has lost the information it uses to make that decision — and the usual, correct response is to disable the passenger airbag and light the airbag warning lamp.
So the question that determines how serious this code is: is the airbag warning light on? If it is, this has stopped being a comfort fault. The vehicle is telling you a restraint is not available, and that is worth resolving promptly rather than living with. If the airbag lamp is clear and only seat adjustment has stopped, the consequence really is convenience.
The cause is very often mundane and very often the same one. The seat harness runs under the seat and flexes every time the seat is moved fore and aft, and it sits exactly where feet, luggage, dropped objects and spilt drinks arrive. The corpus already names damaged wiring under the front seats as a cause for exactly this reason. Connectors under seats are also unplugged for all sorts of unrelated work — carpet, trim, subwoofers, retrofits — and left unmated.
On a vehicle where a scan tool is being connected anyway, note that the seat module often shares a supply with other interior modules, so a fuse should be checked before the seat is stripped.
