Output Speed Sensor
Measures how fast the transmission's output shaft is turning. Paired with the turbine speed sensor at the input, it gives the module the two numbers whose ratio reveals which gear is actually engaged — which is what every gear ratio code rests on. On many vehicles it doubles as the vehicle speed source, feeding the speedometer, cruise control and stability systems, so its failure produces a scatter of apparently unrelated symptoms at once. That breadth is the clue: a dead speedometer, several warning lights and a transmission that has stopped shifting is one sensor, not four faults.
